Michael Powell

Mike PowellOverview

My name is Mike Powell and I am the Instructional Technology Facilitator for AL Brown High school since December 2014. Before coming here, I taught Graphic Design and Game Design in Wilmington, NC for five years. I continue to teach a class here at Brown during 3rd block while also completing my other duties. I'm probably the biggest nerd at this school so if you ever need help or just want to chat technology, stop by my office located in the Media Center.

Educational Philosophy

When in the classroom, education should be fun for the student, but you should also push and hold students to a higher standard that is expected from them in the current high school environment. If a student is having fun, they are more likely to continue their working learning outside the classroom, make themselves achieve a higher standard without you having to do anything.

"A good teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination, and instill a love of learning."

What are we currently doing?

New classes have started! Before student's are able to use the computer, they need to know how it works! This week we are going over parts of a computer and how they all work.
