Crystal Alexander, Graduation Coach & Dropout Prevention Coordinator
My goal as a Graduation coach and Drop-out prevention coordinator is to provide support, coaching, and resources for students who are struggling academically and with attendance, and who may not be on target to graduate. My goal is to get as many A. L. Brown students as possible across that stage in June!

Every person has worth and should be treated with kindness, compassion, and dignity. Most people can benefit from support, guidance, direction, or a listening ear, and can flourish when they feel they have a safe place to seek support. High school students are no different. Therefore, I believe each student at A. L. Brown is worthy of our attention, focus, support, and kindness.
I have been teaching & supporting students @ A.L. Brown High School since 2001.

My role as a full-year counseling intern involves a combination of many different roles. I spend the majority of my time working in much the same way a school counselor would, plus I work with supervisors, both at A.L. Brown and UNC Charlotte. My work with these supervisors allows me the opportunity to learn from professionals in the field as well as receive feedback about my current work.
When I'm not working with a supervisor, I try to be with students as much as possible. I help provide students the support they need in the personal/social, academic, and career aspects of their lives. I help students create attainable goals around their academic and career aspirations as well as advocate for policy change that will positively influence the school environment.
NC State University - Bachelors in Communication I am currently in the process if finishing up UNC Charlotte - currently finishing my Masters in Counseling
At my core belief as a counselor is that all students are capable of success if they are provided with a caring environment. Whether it's in the classroom or provided by student services, students who feel that they matter and are cared for will ultimately find success in their lives, not just academically, but socially as well.
