Educational Biography:

B.A. in English and Teacher Education, the State University of New York at Buffalo

M.A. in English Literature and Composition, State University College at Buffalo
MBA in Marketing from Strayer University

National Board Certification

Educational Background:

I have taught English Language Arts for every grade level from 7-12. I hold permanent teaching licenses in New York and North Carolina. I have a strong background in the performing arts and have directed musicals and shows for many years.

I have coached soccer, swimming, and running sports

Educational Philosophy:
I believe that students display intelligence in many ways, and that each child is capable of learning. As educators, it is our job to facilitate knowledge by helping students find ways in which s/he learns best. A test is not always the best way to determine how much someone knows. I believe in teaching the whole child, and feel that a healthy body leads to a healthy mind.

Since there are a variety of learning styles displayed by students in any given classroom, it is important to include a wide range of learning activities so that each learner can do two things:

1. utilize methods that align with his or her strengths, and
2. try new ways of expressing knowledge to help add new skills and proficiency.
