Ms. Chelsea Herron

Educational Biography
I am so humbled and honored to be working at A. L. Brown! This is my first year teaching, I graduated from UNC Charlotte in May of 2018. I am teaching English I this year, both Honors and Regular. I am so excited to work with these kids! Go Wonders and Go Niners!

Educational Experience
I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Arts. I majored in English and minored in Secondary Education.

Educational Philosophy
I believe that I can learn just as much from students as they can from me. By creating a welcoming environment for all cultures and encouraging students to be their true selves, we are all teachers and learners. I strive to instill a value for education in all of my students; every one of them has the potential to be better than they were yesterday and it is my hope that they recognize this in themselves.

What's New?
We just finished our first unit, Know Thyself, centered around Sandra Cisneros', The House On Mango Street. As of the first week of April, we will officially begin our second unit, Follow The Leader. We will write our research papers during this unit, these will be focused on a leader in our society. The paired text with this unit is Homer's, The Odyssey. We are counting down the days until Spring Break!
