Educational Experience:
I came into education from a different approach.  After I earned my Bachelor of Science in Sports/Entertainment/Event Management from Johnson & Wales University- Denver, I was in the event management industry for about a year before taking a maternity leave position in the admissions office back at JWU.  Talking with high school students about the importance of higher education, I felt a calling to go back to school and become a School Counselor.  While working full time, I attended graduate school at night at The University of Phoenix and earned my Master degree in School Counseling.  I moved to Charlotte in August of 2007 to open up Mallard Creek High School.  I was at MCHS for three years and then was asked to open Rocky River High School.  I was with RRHS for two years and then wanted a new experience and moved into Cabarrus County in 2012.  I worked at Central Cabarrus High School for the last six years before graduating in May with my School Administration license from UNCC.
I am so excited to be at A. L. Brown this year in a new role and ready for all the new and exciting experiences!

Educational Philosophy:
My philosophy on education is that a student must be nurtured emotionally, socially, and academically.  All three of these components create a well-rounded student who is then set up to be successful in school and in life. I pride myself on my ability to connect with my students, motivating and supporting them in their efforts to improve and succeed. I believe in being pro-active in my approach by getting to know my students and heading off problems that I sense are forthcoming.  I am tough when I need to be and compassionate when called.  Students and faculty understand they can count on me to be responsive and engaged.

What's New?
I am a proud aunt to the cutest 3 year old boy and my sister is having another boy in February. I love to FaceTime with him and visit twice a year when I go to Cleveland. I am an avid runner even after retiring from marathons and half marathons last year.
