The Social Studies department makes up one of the 4
core curriculums of the school along with math, science, and
english. Students take World History in the 9th grade, Civics and
Economics in the 10th grade, and US History in the 11th grade.
Besides these core courses, we offer several electives geared towards
juniors and seniors. Advanced Placement classes are offered in US
History, which is a year long course, and Government, which is a
semester length course. Psychology and Sociology are electives that
are relevant to many different career opportunities. American
Cultures explores many of the key issues facing our diverse culture
within the United States. Model UN provides students with the
opportunity to analyze and debate key issues facing our world today.
Social Studies is more than just dates and facts, it prepares you to be
a productive member of society.
